Investment in Upholstery Leads to Return to Manchester Furniture Show

Sweet Dreams are to launch British-made sofas and chairs, sofabeds and bedroom cabinet at the Manchester Furniture Show – the first time we’ve exhibited there for several years.

We’re pleased to report significant growth in our upholstery range in the last year and have expanded our range.  The main focus is on British-made 3-2-1 and corner suites, together with standalone chairs, and serious investment in design, manufacture and compliance technology has seen the range making headway in the retail market and gaining real traction. Complementing this collection are Sweet Dreams’ imported recliners. Further models have been added during the summer both to the upholstery range and to the British-made sofabeds; an expansion more than justifying exhibiting at Manchester this year.

Sofabeds are to be a highlight of Sweet Dreams’ Manchester show. The four new UK-manufactured sofabeds that did so well at the NEC – especially Dawn and Dusk, a corner unit with chaise storage –are complemented by a new model, Sunset.Sunsetis a two-seater and comes in our excellent choice of fabrics. It features an easy, pull-out action.

So what other new models will be shown at Manchester? Well, there’ll be several new British-made sofas; Blenheim, an attractive 3-2-1, and Knole which comes in two versions – a scatterback and a standard sofa. These will complement existing sofas and chairs on display first seen at the NEC. We also anticipate showing several new recliners and possibly new models from our well-regarded bedroom cabinet collection.

Scholefield Technology Centre

Compliance is a critical factor in manufacturing goods for the British marketplace and  we’re proud to report the opening of our own product testing centre.

We’ve established a state-of-the-art product testing hub at our Scholefield Mill in Nelson, just a mile or so away from Sweet Dreams HQ. Scholefield Technology Centre comprises no fewer than seven machines, including two testing for mattress durability and sofa fatigue, a crock meter, a Martindale abrasion machine and a flammability testing area. Staffed by a compliance manager and technician, the centre is a member of SATRA and we anticipate gaining UKAS accreditation later in the year.

As a result, retailers can be sure that our British-manufactured upholstery is guaranteed to meet or surpass all compliance requirements as well as meet their needs for modern styling, a high comfort factor and good value. It should make for a lively stand at the Manchester Furniture Show.
